We are an Alberta Dog Kennel that will go the Extra Mile

Your pet is a member of the family. Country Kennels prides itself on the level of hospitality we extend to all our guests. As fellow pet owners, we promise the following concerning your doggie’s stay:

  • Your pet will be provided the opportunity to play and socialize with other guests or have their own individual play yard time and personal walk with a staff member. This will be determined by you dependent on your pet’s personal needs.
  • Guests always have their own spacious indoor kennel with many having an attached outdoor run
  • Guests have their own large fenced exercise yard during play time
  • Guests have their own individual walk and playtime with a staff member each day

Our high staff-to-pet ratio allows our guests to be outside their kennel a minimum of 4 to 5 times every day between walks and play yard times. Kennels, bedding and pets are cleaned throughout the day to keep our facilities comfortable and healthy at all times.

Geriatric and Special Needs Dogs

Special care is needed for certain guests of Country Kennels. Puppies, elderly dogs, disabled dogs and dogs with a high activity level all require extra attention to ensure their needs are met. We care for dogs living with all types of conditions:

  • Allergies
  • Deafness
  • Heart disease
  • Arthritis
  • Diabetes
  • Skin problems
  • Blindness
  • Digestive problems
  • Nervous, shy, anxious
  • Seizure disorders
  • Disabilities

Stress Therapy Management

A variety of stress therapies are used as needed. We assist pets struggling with separation anxiety and stress through our use of herbal remedies, touch and relaxation techniques or extra time spent with staff playing or cuddling.

DAP Therapy

DAP (Dog Appeasing Pheromone) therapy calms and reassures dogs and puppies in stressful situations such as leaving their owner, being alone at home, travel, going to the vet and kenneling. DAP synthetically mimics natural pheromones that female dogs provide for their puppies, giving them a sense of well-being and reassurance.

Herbal Stress Remedies

Herbal therapy is only given after all other attempts have failed to alleviate the stress.

Pet Health

If your pet requires prescription medications in any form (pill, liquid, powder, cream, etc.) during their stay there will be a $1.00 per day administration charge.

Injections or special medical needs (i.e. bandaging and wound care) will be charged extra according to individual requirements.

If your pet requires the administration of medications or products that are supplied by the kennel (for diarrhea, stress, etc.), there will be an additional $1.00 per day charge.

Vaccinations can take days or even weeks to stimulate a pet’s protective immunity. Vaccinating your pet the day it is exposed to disease may not be enough. If you plan to board your pet, it is advised to vaccinate a minimum of one week prior to entering a kennel.

  • DAPP or DA2PP
  • Bordetella (kennel cough)
  • * Read additional information on dog illnesses such as Canine Influenza

Recommended vaccinations for cats:

Management will charge a fee for taking your pet to the vet, in addition to any charges incurred. Management reserves the right to not accept an animal felt to be a health risk or danger to the staff or other guests of our facility.

  • All pets arriving must be in good health; any pet arriving showing indications of sickness (i.e. coughing, fever, vomiting, etc.) will not be accepted
  • Any pet with signs of pest infestations will be bathed and dipped at the owner's expense
  • Any pet requiring medical attention will be taken to their veterinarian if possible or the emergency vet if after hours
